Deparment of Biochemisntry

The department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1993 with Microbiology, Biochemistry and chemistry and in the year 1995 a new combination with Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Chemistry. Since then the department has developed year by year in infrastructure as well as the combinations in life sciences and Department has introduced the PG course in Biochemistry in the year 2006. Department has highly qualified faculty members, with Ph.D and M.Phil from reputed Universities and Institutes.

The department has well established infra structure and equipped laboratories to conduct experiments in the field of Molecular Biology, Immunology, Enzymology, Biophysical techniques and Instrumentation Technology. The students are motivated to take up the projects in various aspects of Applied Biochemistry like Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular biology and Techniques like PCR, HPLC e.t.c.

The UG course students after their 3 year course are well equipped with sound theoretical and practical knowledge in Biochemistry. They become familiar with the Diagnostic procedures in clinical Medicine, Qualitative and quantitative analysis of biomolecules, handling of sophisticated instruments used in biochemistry laboratory.

Post graduate students of Biochemistry gain vast knowledge in specialized branches like Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Enzymology, Endocrinology, Clinical Biochemistry and Recombinant DNA technology as well as practical knowledge in experiments related to above aspects of Biochemistry. The PG students undertake a field projects in final semester in various aspects of Biochemistry to develop research aptitude, in addition to the curriculum.

During their course of study, students of both UG and PG students besides rigorous training in practical aspects of Biochemistry, also visit reputed institutions like IICT, CCMB, CDFD, NIN to gain knowledge on ongoing research projects and advances in Molecular biology and Biochemistry. Guest lectures by eminent scientists and scholars are arranged periodically on recent advances in the field of Biochemistry and allied sciences.

Dr. Ravi Kiran Suripeddi M.Sc., Ph.D. A Research Fellow with excellent communication skills, creative intellectual ability, highly conversant with the experimental techniques and having more than 10 years research experience in the area of Natural Products, Herbal medicinal formulations, Enzymology, Analytical Method Development and validations and 6 years as an academician. He is having a zest for life and zealous to take up any task enthusiastically. He has 2 Patents of his credit and a Myriad of Publications in various National and International Journals.

Jyothi P She has done her post graduation from S. K. University. She has 6 years of teaching experience and 3 years research experience and she is pursuing  Ph.D under the guidance of Prof. D. sarala Kumari, S. K. University. Her research interest is Diabetes and Clinical biochemistry. Her research papers are in communication. She has participated in many National & International conferences and presented posters and also papers. She has participated in various extracurricular activities in her college days.

G.Bindu She has completed her Post graduation in Biochemistry from osmania University. She started her career as a faculty in Biochemistry and completed seven years of service. Her interested area are Molecular biology and Endocrinology. She actively participated in conferences, seminars, workshops, poster presentations and also involved in extra curricular activities.
