Convocation

This is an event where the students are given their bachelors degree formally. It is usually conducted in the month of July. They are invited through their college e-mail IDs. In some universities for example, the term “Convocation” refers specifically to the ent

irety of the alumni of the university, which function as one of the university’s representative bodies. Due to its inordinate size, the convocation elects a standing committee, which is responsible for making representations concerning the views of the alumni to the university administration. The convocation also, however, can hold general meetings at which any alumnus can attend. On this day passed out students are given life’s experiences of eminent personalities of different fields related to management, science and technology, business and profession. This is the day where the students are inducted into the adult world of serious business and real and challenging situations. They are given counseling on the realities of life and ways to deal with them.

Itinerary:

  1. A brief welcome is rendered by the compere
  2. The programme begins with the lighting of the lamp and the prayer song
  3. This is followed by the Presiding Officer’s address
  4. Then the Principal addresses the gathering
  5. This is followed by the speech of the Guest of Honour
  6. Some of outgoing students share their experience of studying at Aurora
  7. Then the convocation oath is administered by the Chief Guest
  8. This is followed by the Chief Guest’s speech
  9. Gold medals are given to the class toppers and the subject toppers

10.  Lastly each student is photographed in the convocation gown

 

7th convocation held in RTC Kalabhavan on 7th August, 2008
The chief guest for the occasion was Dr.Indira J.Parikh, Founder, and President of Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME), Pune. The Guest of honour Prof. Krishna N.Ganesh, IISER Director, Pune; Dr.Alladi Prabhakar; Mr.Ramesh Nimmatoori, the Secretary and Correspondent, Aurora Consortium; Mr.Raja Babu, Chairman, Aurora Consortium; Dr.Ravi Paturi, Principal, Aurora’s Degree & PG College.

The chief guest Dr.Indira J Parikh formally opened the convocation. The convocation in Aurora Degree College was organized to acknowledge the degree given to the students to appreciate their hard work, endeavour for the 3 academics, the degrees and gold medals to the candidates who have been certified worthy of these degrees and medals. Oath administration was done by the chief guest followed by the convocation address. The event was co-ordinated by Rajani Deepa, Dept of Biochemistry.The message conveyed by the convocation of Aurora’s Degree College was to remind them that apart from being a degree holder, they are also responsible citizens for the country.
