Student Activity Cell 2012-2013
In the past few decades, our educational institutes have emphasized a broad educational mission: to develop the "complete student” concept. Extracurricular involvement is a key tool in this personal development. This gave birth to the concept of a Student Activity Cell.
The student activity cell is made up of students; each class appoints a class representative. Each captain from each class, along with a student activity facilitator form the Student Activity Cell.
We, at the student activity cell believe in helping students reach the point of excellence an individual needs. Getting involved in these activities helps students link the academic knowledge with the external experience they have had, this in turn helps them develop their abilities. These experiences have a positive impact on the students' emotional, intellectual, social, and inter-personal development. By working together with other individuals, students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflict, and lead others. Taking part in these out-of-the-classroom activities helps students to understand the importance of critical thinking skills, time management, and academic and intellectual competence.
The student activity cell is divided into two basic parts
- Student Activities
- Student Governance
Student Activities –
The student activity cell organizes various co-curricular and extracurricular activities in and around college. Various general and professional clubs are also present to help students meet others with same interests and take up initiatives.
We also have the concept of clubs, General clubs and Professional Clubs.
General clubs provide an opportunity to the students to develop their extracurricular interests. Professional Clubs help students develop their professional needs beyond the classroom.
Students are also encouraged to form their own clubs.
Student Governance –
The student activity cell has its own student organization called the Student Governing Council. The student Governing council acts as the official voice of the student at Aurora Degree College.
Any organization requires four important parts –
- Consistent Management
- Right Decision Making
- Proper Guidance , and
- Proper Policies.
We, at the student Activity Cell believe that students must be involved in all the four aspects of an organization.
Our goal is to inculcate leadership qualities among the students so that they can take part in the decision making process. This will help students learn the way an organization works and will also provide them with training in real life problem solving.
The executive committee shall consist of the principal, vice-principal,student activity facilitator and 3 third year students, one each from commerce, life sciences and physical sciences.
The Committee comprises four academically strong members who are selected from the captains. Two captains one from commerce and one from science are selected from second year the same is followed for third year.
The committee comprises four energetic members who are selected from the captains. This committee consists of two captains from third year one each from commerce and science streams and two captains from second year one each from commerce and science stream. . Other captains shall take the responsibility of the subcommittees. The sub- committee members shall add more members to their committees.
- Social activity committee
The Committee comprises four socially active members who are selected from the captains. Two second year captains one each from commerce and science stream .Two first year captain’s one each from commerce and science stream. They shall select 6 students, two from each stream from group leaders who are serious in academics. (First years)
- External activities committee
The committee comprises 6 students who have good networking and communication skills. One captain from first, second and third year commerce and one captain from first, second and third year commerce and sciences stream. The subcommittee may consist of 9 members spread across 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students.
