Commerce

The department of commerce was established in the year, 1993. Over the years the department has grown from strength to strength, in physical dimension with respect to number of student enrolled, in academic dimension with respect to results and marks and also in the intellectual dimensions in the form of seminars and paper presentations by faculty as well as students.

The department of commerce was established, with Mr. Vinay Sharma as the First faculty with a moderate strength of 30 students. In the year 1993, Prof.Upadhyaya became the principal of the college. During the academic year 1995-96 Mr.Tamraparni Partha Saradhi was inducted in to the department of commerce  as a faculty, who became the First HOD of commerce Department and later became the vice Principal of the college in the year1996-97. The Department was strengthened after Ms. Asha Kapoor and Mr.Nanda Gopal joined as faculty of commerce. By 2006-07, the department has grown to be the biggest department in the college with 22 faculty and 1200 students covering the streams B Com Regulars, Computers and Hons besides M Com course from the academic year2006-07.

The college got the approval to run the prestigious B Com (Hons) course, in the year 1997-98 which proved to be a feather in Commerce Department’s Cap. B Com (Comp) is another course which the commerce Department is adept at handling since 1998. The year 2002 saw a sea-change in the department portfolio as many well qualified, able faculties were inducted in to it. It was in this year that Mr. Sai Krishna G became the HOD, Commerce.

The department has evolved a new concept of empowering the student by imparting knowledge which goes beyond the text books. 

During the year 2000-01, there was a proposal to organize events, where the students would be involved in organizing them which contributes to their multifaceted development. Commerce Sense was the first choice of the events. It was the predecessor of Akanksha, the feat, as it is called now and it has many segments, each more challenging and enriching than the other. Educational visits to prestigious institutions like IIM, Ahmadabad, XLRI, Jamshedpur etc, resulted in bringing about an all round development in the personality of the students as well as imbibed a sense of professionalism which is the hall mark of these institutions. The year 2002 was very encouraging as Dr. Ravi Paturi a visionary took over as principal. The development of Commerce Department was his priority for which he took serious steps which bore fruits in due course.

Now the commerce department has strength of 22 faculties who propelled the department to its heights. This tempo continues even today in that the department is ranked as the best for commerce education,  

Achievements:

The students of this stream take active part in conducting various events and also regularly win prizes at events conducted by other colleges at local and national levels. The Department of Commerce is proud to say that Mr. Shiva Kumar from B Com Hons was awarded Gold Medal during the academic year2003-04 for topping in Osmania University B Com Hons students. The Department of Commerce, OU has been organizing a program for B com Hons students to bring out their hidden talents, titled-“PRERANA” every year. In this event, the students of B Com Hons were excelling in several competitions such as Micro Presentation, Business Quiz etc. During the academic year 2005-06 the students of B Com Hons having shown excellence in all competitions were given overall champion trophy. The students of B Com Computers stream have been organizing several events under the guidance and supervision of Mrs. Prasanna Kumari the coordinator.

A majority of the faculty have completed M Phil and registered for PhD. The department of commerce has many experienced faculty who leave no stone unturned to draw out the latent talents of the students, and monitor the students progress academically. All this translated into outstanding results where B Com Hons has registered 100% pass percentage and the regular course achieving almost 90%. In the academic year of 2008-2009, commerce stream has the distinction of standing first in university in the academic results with highest pass percentage.

The department has conducted a National level event titled ‘La Entrepreneurs Sans Frontiers ‘on Sept 10, 2009 which received overwhelming response from various colleges throughout India.

Viswanadham Bulusu Viswanadham holds a twin office as the Vice Principal of the college and  the Head of the Department of Commerce. He is a Dynamic, multifaceted person who is all out to help people and is ready to conquer new horizons. He is an asset to the Institution and is well respected by the student community. He has number of qualifications to his credit such as M.com, PG Diploma in Taxation, MBA finance and MBA in marketing. Every Year he continues to be a force to reckon with. He is a visiting faculty in Aurora business school.

Suseela Kanduri: An enthusiastic and highly energetic professional with about 10 years of Academic and 8 years of Corporate experience.  Besides being a M Com (Finance), MBA ( Marketing) and PG Diploma in Business Ethics, she is also a “Certified Trainer & Facilitator- CTF” from CAMI, USA. She is currently pursuing Ph D from Nagarjuna University. She presently, the Head, Department of Commerce. .

Satyavathi: Satyavathi is one of the most experienced faculty members associated with the college with 14 years of teaching experience.  She has completed her master’s from St. Anns and has completed M.Phil (Commerce) and currently pursuing her Ph.D(mgt).  She is also a corporate trainer specializing in the fields of HR and OB and has taken sessions at DRDL, BDL, DLRL, SPP, and DMRO.  She is known for handling theory papers like Human Resource Management , Business Organization and Management, Financial Services Banking and insurance with immense practical exposure. more

B.S.Deepa: Deepa is a dynamic faculty with an experience of 7 years in teaching. She is specialized in Micro Economics and deals with papers like Business Environment, International Business, Business Economics including CA foundation course. She participated in a workshop on “Case study and Storytelling methodology in teaching” conducted by Aurora Business School on 9.2.2010 at their campus.

VijayaLakshmi: Vijayalakshmi is  a twin Gold Medalist in Economics and Music . She is currently pursuing her Ph.d in Economics from O.U.  She has qualified NET from UGC and is equally knowledgeable in economics and music. She presented a paper on “Markets and Price Determination” at a State Level Convention of Teachers, conducted by Andhra Mahila Sabha B.Ed college on 7.11.2006 for which a letter of appreciation was given. more

SSultana Begum: Sultana begum is a Go-getter and a dynamic person. She is a university topper in post graduation. She has 12 years of teaching experience in teaching both UG and PG students. Her areas of interest include Commerce and Information Technology. She is a Sun Certified Programmer also. She is specialized in teaching E-commerce and Business Data Processing and Accounting Systems.  She is currently pursuing her Ph.D (HRM).  She is  a member of HMA. more

G.Sai Krishna: Sai Krishna is a very well experienced faculty who has been in the Department for the past ten years.   He is known for his patience and passion for teaching.  A very responsible and meticulous person and is known for having immense knowledge in various subjects of commerce. He is the coordinator for IGNOU Study centre at the college.

Veena kapoor A smart worker who believes in perfection, she is a M Com with a PG diploma in Finance currently pursuing MBA in HR. She has 15 years teaching experience in varied areas of Commerce & Management.

Lakshmi G Lakshmi is simple and dynamic person in the department. She has Completed M.Com from Andhra University. She has 11years of teaching experience. She is adept at teaching theory papers like business organization and management, financial services-banking and insurance. She has attended various lecture meetings and talks in HMA as a member.

M Nagarajan Nagarajan is a faculty with 7 years of teaching experience.  He has completed his bachelor degree in law and masters in commerce from OU.  He teaches finance and accounting papers. He is known for his approachable nature and commitment in teaching. He is also working as Examination Coordinator .

Padmini S She is a post gradeuate in commerce and also M.Phil having 7 years of experience.  An expert in Business Organisation & Management , Business Statistics .  She is very sportive & dynamic.

Madhavilatha P She is a post graduate in commerce and management having 10 years of experience and also pursuing M.Phil. Experteised in Quantitative Techniques, Income Tax, Organisation Theory & Behaviour & HRM.  She is a consistenet and talented can handle any task.

Sujatha K she is a post graduate in commerce from osmania university having 8 years of experience. She is well versed  in teaching  theory subjects. she is calm yet very active and maintain friendly relation with every one. she always shows keen interest in learning new things.

I . MADHAVI She is a post graduate in commerce from Osmania University having 7 years of experience. She is well versed in teaching practical subjects like cost and management accounting,auditing.  She is calm yet very active and maintains friendly relation with every one.  She shows keen interest in learning new things & works.

Megharani  Giri Megharani  Giri is Dynamic and Multi-Talented faculty with M.com, B.Ed and   pursuing her M.phil   .she has 6 years of teaching experience. She presented her   paper at National conference held in Maharashtra. Her area of research was finance . She won Narayan Rao Joshi  puraskar  for Accounts. She stood state first in Micro teaching (B.Ed) 2005. She won many awards for Acting as well as for dancing.

Deepthi B She is determined person with gold medal in her MBA college,2011 with HR specialization. She has also worked for Aurora's Business School as Research associate. She enviences lot of zeal for teaching.she won first prize in few presentaions given related to management.she is currently pursuing her MSc Psychology.
