Anti Drug Committee

The Anti-Drug Committee of Aurora’s Degree & PG College is constituted to create a safe, healthy, and drug-free educational environment for all students. The Cell works towards preventing the use, possession, distribution, and promotion of drugs and other harmful substances within the college campus and its surrounding areas.

The institution is committed to promoting awareness about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and encouraging students to adopt healthy, responsible, and productive lifestyles. The Anti-Drug Committee undertakes preventive, awareness, counselling, and monitoring activities in coordination with the college administration, faculty members, students, parents, and relevant authorities.

Objectives

The Anti-Drug Committee functions with the following objectives:

• To prevent the use and possession of drugs and other harmful substances on and around the college campus.
• To create awareness among students about the physical, psychological, social, and academic consequences of drug and substance abuse.
• To promote a healthy, safe, disciplined, and drug-free campus environment.
• To encourage students to make informed and responsible choices and develop healthy lifestyles.
• To identify students who may require support and facilitate appropriate counselling and guidance.
• To organize awareness programmes, seminars, workshops, rallies, and campaigns on drug abuse prevention.
• To encourage students to actively participate in creating a drug-free society.
• To comply with applicable government regulations, institutional policies, and directions of competent authorities concerning prevention of drug abuse.

Functions and Responsibilities

The Anti-Drug Committee performs the following functions:

• Monitor the campus environment to help prevent drug and substance abuse.
• Create awareness regarding the harmful effects and legal consequences associated with the use and distribution of prohibited substances.
• Conduct orientation programmes, awareness campaigns, seminars, and interactive sessions for students.
• Encourage healthy alternatives such as sports, cultural activities, clubs, and other constructive student activities.
• Receive and appropriately address information or complaints relating to drug or substance abuse.
• Maintain confidentiality while dealing with sensitive student-related concerns.
• Provide guidance and facilitate counselling or referral to appropriate professional support wherever necessary.
• Coordinate with parents, faculty members, college authorities, and competent external agencies when required.
• Take appropriate preventive and disciplinary measures in accordance with institutional rules and applicable laws.

Awareness and Prevention Programmes

The Anti-Drug Committee regularly promotes awareness among students through various activities, including:

• Anti-drug awareness campaigns and poster competitions.
• Seminars and guest lectures by qualified professionals and resource persons.
• Student orientation and sensitization programmes.
• Counselling and guidance sessions.
• Observance of national and institutional awareness initiatives related to drug abuse prevention.
• Promotion of sports, yoga, cultural activities, and other healthy recreational programmes.
• Distribution and display of educational materials highlighting the dangers of substance abuse.

Complaint and Support Procedure

Students who experience, witness, or have concerns regarding drug or substance abuse may report the matter through the following channels:

• Submit a written complaint to the Anti-Drug Committee.
• Inform the Principal, faculty member, or any designated college authority.
• Contact the designated Anti-Drug Committee coordinator.
• Send an email to the official institutional email address antidrug@adc.edu.in designated for such complaints.

All complaints and concerns will be handled responsibly and, wherever appropriate, with confidentiality. The college will take suitable preventive, counselling, and disciplinary measures in accordance with institutional policies and applicable laws.

Aurora's Degree & PG College maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards the possession, use, distribution, sale, or promotion of prohibited drugs and substances on the college campus.

The institution believes that prevention, awareness, counselling, and student participation are essential in addressing substance abuse. The college encourages every student to contribute towards building a healthy, safe, responsible, and drug-free academic community.

Students are encouraged to seek guidance and support at an early stage if they or someone they know is facing difficulties related to substance use. Seeking help is a responsible step towards recovery and a healthier future.

The Anti-Drug Committee of Aurora's Degree & PG College is constituted to strengthen institutional efforts towards prevention of drug and substance abuse among students and to maintain a safe and healthy campus environment.

The Cell works towards implementing awareness, preventive, counselling, and monitoring activities and encourages the active participation of students and staff in promoting a drug-free campus.

The Anti-Drug Committee consists of representatives from the administration, faculty, non-teaching staff, and student community to ensure effective awareness, monitoring, and support.
